LP 011: The Roundtable - Spinning Wheel (Jay Boy, 1970)

Side 1
01 Eli's Comin'
02 Fantasia On A Theme By Lennon And McCartney (Michelle)
03 Saturday Gigue
04 Girl I Used To Know

Side 2
05 Scarborough Fair
06 This Guy's In Love With You
07 Where Do You Go?
08 Spinning Wheel

This is an amazing record which I finally turned up earlier this year.

A hybrid of baroque, jazz, folk and psych with a distinctly medieval vibe.
Eight well known tunes deconstructed into complex rhythms and powerful arrangements.
Impossible to pick a favourite as all eight tracks are winners.
Check out the harpsichord and the hammond, the sackbut and the crumhorn.
Dig those marvellous grooves - take a ride on this Spinning Wheel.

Comments and feedback are welcome.

This is a superb lp ! Reminds me in some places "The Advancement" an LP on Phillips/USA.
i tried to catch it someday but it demands high prices. It deserves a reissue. Thanks a lot!

Hi
Saturday Gigue is an amazing tune! Is it a cover version? I have heard a song with exactly the same intro but without the baroque instrumentation. Do you know who does this?

Saturday Gigue was written specifically for this LP by Ken Moule, freelance jazz pianist / arranger.
